Following on from various experiences at different domaines in South Africa and again at Domaine du Pas de l’Escalette, Antoine returned to the family estate, le Château de Maupas, working side by side with his father, Jospeh Van Remoortere in Morogues, a little village in the Cher region of the Loire Valley. Currently, this young winemaker has settled on 4 hectares of vines in the same small region, working under the appellation of Menetou-Salon.
Always thinking of the environment and the soil, he is progressively working towards managing a completely organic estate. With a relatively northern climate, this winery is situated in the east of the Loire Valley, with predominantly clay and limestone soils. Planted are two grape varieties distinctively unique to this appellation; Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, which grow in small parcels on the Forchet and Reigny hillsides belonging to the domaine. His first vintage under the Remoortere label was released in 2011.
